External Hard Disk

External Hard Disk

External hard disk is a storage media. It is portable. Its capacity almost same with internal hard disk as a primary storage of a computer unit. It is more frequently used for saving big data. Even so, small data can be saved in it too.

We know there are some storage media beside two of them above, such as CD and flash disk. Capacity of CD is usually about 500MB, and flash disk is consisting capacity of 2 GB, 4 GB and 8GB. This is just for example. CD was seldom used because people prefer flash disk.

Actually flash disk is more like people because of smaller than external hard disk. But flash disk capacity is limited. It is smaller than external hard disk. It is suitable for small files, such as doc, pdf, html, mp3. But for video files, it will be better to use external hard disk. Beside it, external hard disk can save all of data from our notebook or personal computer. Its capacity can be same with internal hard disk we have.

Website Computersolves dot Blogspot dot com recommends marks of external hard disk as follow: WD Passport Essential, Seagate Falcon Expansion, Transcend Storejet, Toshiba Canvio Basic, and Hitachi Touro.

Website Sigodangpos dot Blogspot dot Com recommends marks of external hard disk as follow: Toshiba, Seagate, Samsung, WD, A-Data, Buffalo,       Iomega, Imation, LaCie, Maxtor, and Qnap. This website also recommends tips to be a consideration for buying external hard disk as follow: capacity, price, operating system, PnP, read & write, casing, and mark.

  • S: Sigodangpos dot Blogspot dot Com

Based on the table above, we can know that both Computersolves and Sigodangpos recommend WD, Seagate, and Toshiba. As we know three of them are popular marks for internal hard disk, alright?

I guess that a corporation as internal hard disk producer will produce external hard disk too. Because their function are almost same. The difference is only portability.

If we see the table above, Computersolves does not recommend Maxtor and Samsung. We must seek the reason, because the marks are popular in internal hard disk production.

Best marks are usually becoming our consideration. But sometimes, we also consider its price. I ever read that external hard disk usually includes price less than $50 until more than $100. It is based on capacity and quality or mark. This price is for new external hard disk.

How about price for second external hard disk?
I ever read at Kaskus dot Co dot Id there is information an external hard disk with price about $30. Of course, its capacity is smaller, 160GB. But this is enough for back up part of our data. We can save more priority data first before getting bigger external hard disk. This solution is benefit, when we don’t have enough budgets. Save our data is more important. So, don’t wait until tomorrow!
